Working With a Texture Map

If your model has UVs enabled then the current texture (as selected in the Texture palette) will be applied to your model. How the texture is applied will depend on the UVs you've assigned.

Remember that the size of your texture will determine how much detail will show on your model. If your texture is too small then detail can be lost when either using Projection Master or transferring polypainting. The default texture size is 1024 x 1024 pixels. For many situations this may not be large enough; create a new texture of the size you want just before entering Projection Master or transferring polypainting.

To create a new texture:

  1. Set the width you wish to use in the Texture: Width slider.
  2. Set the height in the Texture: Height slider.
  3. Set the color to white (or whatever base color you wish to use).
  4. Press Texture: New.

A new texture will be created and will become the current texture.
